"Chorale" is a chamber-jazz work based on a section of music from Bela Bartok's "Concerto For Orchestra". (Mvt. 2 - Giuoco Delle Coppie) The piece will require the ensemble to play together as a cohesive unit to create subtleties of phrasing and nuance. Hopefully, creating a performance where the sum is greater than the individual parts. I wrote "Geet's Beats" while working at a jazz camp with the legendary big band drummer, Ed Shaughnessy. Our faculty combo needed something swinging and hard-driving that featured our drummer so I came up with this "Art Blakey-like" tune. After we auditioned the tune and Ed approved, he asked what the name was and I didn't have one. I asked him if he ever had a nick-name and he said that in his early days he used to often hound the bandleaders for his paycheck. "Geets" was slang for money and eventually people just started calling Ed, "Geets". Thus, "Geets' Beats" was born! Comes in an Instantly Downloadable .ZIP document with all files in PDF format
